The end goal of any therapy for panic attacks is of course the complete elimination of panic attacks and the associated anxiety and worry. There are of course a variety of different approaches which may be pursued and here we shall give an overview of the 3 most common therapy for panic attacks.

If in consultation with your doctor it is felt that the above options are not having the desired effect then a course of medication may well be considered. The usual drugs prescribed are antidepressants. These type of drugs usually take between two and four weeks before the benefits start to become noticeable. The benefits of taking medication however need to be balanced carefully against any side effects and the long term risks of taking medication. Those that do use medication are also often able to significantly reduce the number and severity of panic attacks and are also able to secure a happy and secure sense of well being once more.
